Creamy Dutch Apple dessert (1979)

Yield: 12 servings

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 30 minutes

Total Time: 40 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1-1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
  • 14-ounce can Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk (NOT evaporated milk)
  • 8 ounces sour cream
  • 1/4 cup ReaLemon Reconstituted Lemon Juice
  • 1 can Comstock Apple Pie Filling
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees (F).
  2. In a 1-1/2-quart shallow baking dish (10x6-inch), melt butter in oven.
  3. Sprinkle in crumbs; stir well.
  4. Press on bottom of dish. In medium bowl, mix together sweetened condensed milk, sour cream and ReaLemon; spread evenly over crumbs.
  5. Spoon pie filling evenly over creamy layer.
  6. Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until set.
  7. Cool slightly.
  8. In small dish, mix together nuts and cinnamon; sprinkle over pie filling.
  9. May be served warm or cold. Refrigerate leftovers.

Notes

Variations: Omit cinnamon. Substitute blueberry, cherry or peach pie filling for apple pie filling.

  1. Thanks for this recipe.My Mother made this back in 1979 and I still have the original copy, I misplaced it and could not pit my hands on it right away. When I saw the picture I screamed and said “That’s it,that is it”. I was sooo happy.
